How should a person go about fighting anxiety?
The initial factor you must appreciate is that anxiety is a feeling . You are not really combating the emotion, to do so would be unreasonable and difficult. What you are really fighting is the factors that cause you to get overwhelmed by the anxiety.
You see anxiety is actually incredibly healthy and valuable. In our past anxiety has been utilised to let us get away from danger, however circumstances for mankind have changed drastically in a small space of time and our brains havent been in a position to keep up with everything.
So the first move in fighting anxiety is to work out what is leading to the overwhelm. Is it people/places/things? Is it situations or events?
When you have worked out exactly what is producing it you ought to look at where the initial link is thats causing the problem, the place where the bad sensations are starting to form. Is it months before when you think about it? Is it right in the instant when you are confronted? (Normally this last one is the most common answer however its almost never correct, usually when you are right in the moment is the point when you face having a panic attack).
Personally I find that if you look at the beliefs you have about yourself in that moment and discover a way to modify those, that is the most successful method. You see personal beliefs are the human minds way of filtering the world around it, if you change the filter you change the fundamental building blocks that make your problem a problem.
